Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for Aldo Borettini of Wasaga Beach. He matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the November 30, 2024 ONTARIO 49 draw to win $100,000.
Aldo, a retiree, has been playing the lottery with OLG weekly for more than 40 years. He enjoys playing Ontario 40, Lotto 6/40, Lotto Max, and Daily Grand. Aldo uses a combination of Quick Picks and his own number selections, including his special number, three. He is now thrilled to be celebrating his first big win!
“I went to the store to check my tickets, and bang! I was a winner,” Aldo recounted, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to claim his winnings. “I screamed, laughed, cried, and jumped. I thought I’d won $10,000 and I was thrilled. That’s when the store clerk confirmed it was actually $100,000. My heart nearly stopped! It was such an emotional and life-altering moment.”
“I quickly returned home to show my wife, and she began to cry tears of joy,” Aldo smiled. “At the end of the day, it’s just money, but being a lottery winner—now that’s something I can brag about!” he chuckled. “It’s a fantastic feeling that I will never get over. I can’t wait to pick up my tickets and hopefully come back to the OLG Prize Centre soon.”
Aldo plans to use his winnings to pay off his mortgage. “This prize is a true blessing; it covers the balance of my mortgage. I have a feeling this is going to be a really good year,” he concluded.
The winning ticket was purchased at Shell on County Road 10 in Stayner.
