New Tecumseth firefighters entered a burning home on Buchanan Drive in Alliston.
Emergency crews were called to the blaze around 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
Ontario Provincial Police say two people were home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
The fire is not considered suspicious.
Police say the family will stay with family and friends temporarily due to the damage and flooding in the basement.
