Police have charged two people after an Uber driver was robbed of their vehicle in Wasaga Beach.

On January 2, Ontario Provincial Police say the driver went to the Pizza Pizza following a request for a ride. Once the person was picked up and the vehicle was on the road again, police say a suspect pressed an object against the driver's head and demanded they pull the car over to the side of the road and get out. The driver complied, and police say the suspect fled in the vehicle.

An attempt was made by police to stop the vehicle, but the driver kept going, and the vehicle was later found abandoned in a parking lot in Collingwood.

Police eventually arrested two people at a Collingwood residence.

A youth from Wasaga Beach has been charged with robbery using a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, flight from police, uttering threats and failing to attend court on a release order.

Police added the youth cannot be identified under the provision of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

A 20-year-old male from Wasaga Beach has been charged with flight from police and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The two were held for a bail hearing and are scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
