South Simcoe police have laid numerous charges against a 20-year-old man from Innisfil in relation to a luring and sexual assault investigation.
Police say the suspect used social media to contact and befriend the victim.
The accused was arrested and held for a bail hearing on Tuesday.
His charges include:
- Sexual Assault
- Sexual Interference
- Invitation to Sexual Touching
- Luring a Person Under 18 Years of Age by Means of Telecommunication
- Transmit, Make Available, Distribute or Sell Sexually Explicit Material to a Person Under 18 years
- Possessing Child Pornography
- Forcible Confinement
- Harassing Phone Calls
- Failure to Comply with Judicial Release (4 counts)

South Simcoe police say a sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature, and encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident. There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence.
