A school bus driver who had students onboard heading to St. Joseph's Catholic High School this morning was charged with impaired operation, according to Barrie police.

Peter Leon, communications coordinator with the Barrie Police Service, says they were notified by another police service about the suspected impaired driver.

Leon says two students were on the bus at the time.

A 48-year-old Oro-Medonte man was located and arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

"Thankfully, no injuries were reported," said Leon.

The driver was released and is scheduled for court in Barrie on February 19.
