There were no injuries from a fire that destroyed a barn in Essa Township last night, officials say.
Around 9 p.m., Nottawasaga OPP and fire crews from Essa, New Tecumseth, Adjala-Tosorontio, and Clearview responded to 7199 County Road 10, south of Angus near Baxter.
"The barn was fully engulfed," according to OPP in a news release this morning. "The barn held equipment and machinery; there was no one in the barn at the time or any livestock."
Police added that the fire did not spread to any nearby residences.
"The cause of the fire was determined to be a block heater inside the barn, and it is not considered to be suspicious," OPP stated.
County Road 10 was closed in both directions from County Road 21 to the 20th Side Road till 11:30 p.m.
