York Regional Police have charged a Barrie man with first-degree murder in connection to a homicide in Vaughan last summer.
Police say they responded to a residence in the Islington Avenue and Kiloran Avenue area on Friday, August 9, 2024, around 2 p.m. for a report of "shots fired."
"When officers arrived, a man was located in his driveway suffering from gunshot wounds," police officials said in a release this morning. "The victim, Jorge-Ivan Navas, was transported to a trauma centre where he was pronounced deceased.
Police say two suspects arrived in a stolen black F-150 that has since been recovered.
Then last Wednesday, investigators arrested a 33-year-old suspect.
"At least one additional suspect remains outstanding," officers added. "Investigators believe this is a targeted incident and there is no concern for public safety. The investigation is ongoing."
