Southern Georgian Bay OPP say they netted a suspect after a reported armed robbery last night at a Midland convenience store.
Provincial police say a 911 call came in at 7:21 p.m., on November 11, by a King Street store clerk, who reported that the robber also had a firearm.
Officers say they located a lone suspect and made a gunpoint arrest in a nearby Highway 12 retail store parking lot around 7:29 p.m.
A 33-year-old Midland man faces the following charges:
- Robbery using a firearm (restricted or prohibited)
- Uttering threats - cause death or bodily harm
- Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to a prohibition order (two counts)
- Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
- Pointing a firearm
- Carrying concealed weapon
- Fail to comply with probation order (two counts)
Police say the accused remains in custody to appear for a bail court date, and further before Ontario court.
Investigators say they were able to locate and seize the weapon involved in the incident, and there is no threat to public safety.
The incident is under investigation.
