One person was injured and taken to a local hospital after what Barrie police say was an "altercation" near Mulcaster Street.

Police told Barrie 360 that a person was arrested a short distance away and was transported to police headquarters where the investigation is continuing.

The call about the incident came in around 7:40 Friday night, police said. There were numerous emergency vehicles in the area of Mulcaster and McDonald Streets.

Police said Saturday morning the victim's injury is believed to have been caused by an edged weapon.
