Barrie police charged four people following a break-and-enter call at an apartment complex on Edgehill Drive.
Officers responded yesterday around 4:20 p.m. and found four people in the lobby on arrival.
"Police very quickly determined that these people, who were trying to leave, were responsible for the reported break-and-enter," officers wrote in a release today.
Two men and two women were taken into custody and sent to police headquarters.
"As a result of the investigation that followed, it was determined that a break-and-enter did not take place, but items from the involved apartment had been stolen by the four people who were in custody," officers continued.

The four were jointly charged with:
- Theft under $5000
A 43-year-old Barrie man, a 33-year-old Tiny Township woman, and a 33-year-old Barrie woman were released on an undertaking and are scheduled for court next month.
Police also said a 35-year-old Barrie man was charged with:
- Obstruct Peace Officer
- Fail to comply with a Release Order
He is still in custody for a bail hearing later today.
"Although this incident was isolated to the address in which police responded, given the size of the complex, a significant, but appropriately measured police response resulted in this matter being resolved within mere minutes of the call being received, and at no time was the safety of this residential community compromised," officers said.
