Two people were injured, one who was airlifted to hospital, following a fiery multi-vehicle crash in Orillia on Saturday afternoon.

Around 1 p.m., Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they were dispatched to Highway 12 and Memorial Avenue for a vehicle swerving in and out of traffic.

"Orillia OPP then received a second report of a multi-vehicle collision where one vehicle caught fire," police said in a news release.

One person was airlifted to a Toronto area hospital with serious injuries while another individual was transported to a local hospital.

Highway 12 was closed between Mississaga Street West and Memorial Avenue until 6:30 p.m. for the police investigation.
