According to a nomination notice on the Liberal Party of Canada's website, Dr. Rose Zacharias will be on the ballot in the riding of Barrie-Springwater-Oro-Medonte (BSOM).
Zacharias is a former president of the Ontario Medical Association. She ran in the same riding in the provincial election and was defeated by Conservative incumbent Doug Downey. Zacharias registered 35.7% of the vote, and Downey garnered 49.8% support.
In the federal race, she will challenge Conservative incumbent Doug Shipley, a former Barrie city councillor, first elected to the House of Commons in 2019.
The New Democrats have not announced a candidate in BSOM, while the last registered name for the Green Party was Eric Loewen.
Michael Speers is also in the race representing the Communist Party of Canada.
In the riding of Barrie-Innisfil, the only candidate on the ballot is Conservative incumbent John Brassard. The former Barrie city councillor was first elected to the House of Commons in the 2015 federal election.
The Liberals, New Democrats and Green Party have yet to announce their candidates in Barrie-Innisfil.
