Barrie police say one of their own has been charged by provincial police in connection with domestic-related incidents that allegedly took place between 2015 and 2023 while the member was off-duty.

Police say the member was arrested on Thursday and is facing six charges.

"The member was released on conditions and has been suspended with pay as per the Police Services Act, which was the legislation in effect at the time of the allegations," Barrie police said in a news release. "Due to the nature of the incidents, the Barrie Police Service will not be providing any further information."
