An Easter tradition will be tweaked this year due to the rising cost of eggs.

Rumour is that this year, people will dye potatoes the signature pastel colours of easter instead of eggs because eggs are increasing in price.

@thefoxsaystwins My sanity when no one cries over a cracked one? Priceless. Catch us dyeing spuds and calling it tradition! #EasterSwitchUp #MomLifeUnfiltered #PotatoPaintingPros #EggsAreEggspensive #TwinMomChronicles #BudgetMomWin #TheFoxSaysTwins #EasterLaughs #RelatableMomLife #ParentingHumor #FunnyEasterTraditions ♬ YA YA - Beyoncé

The concept was actually introduced a few years ago when food prices began to rise, but this year, it seems to be taking off.

There are currently tons of videos online showing how to dye your spud for the colourful, hoppy season, and it doesn't differ much from how you used to do it.

In fact, it's probably less stinky and less messy in the case of a basket drop.

@mamma_y With egg prices we might be dying Easter potatoes again! #eggs #easter #inflation #eastereggs #eggprices #kidsbelike #dyeeggs #fun ♬ It's The Hard Knock Life - Annie Movie
