Winnipeg Jets sign Barrie-native Isaak Phillips to two-year, two-way contract

The Winnipeg Jets have signed defenceman Isaak Phillips to a two-year, two-way contract, the team announced Friday.

He came into the offseason as a restricted free agent. His deal carries an average annual value of US$812,500 at the NHL level.

Originally selected in the fifth round (141st overall) of the 2020 NHL Draft by Chicago, Phillips appeared in 56 NHL games over four seasons with the Blackhawks. He recorded two goals, 10 assists, and 31 penalty minutes during that span.

The 23-year-old Barrie native played three NHL games with Chicago last season, recording one goal.

Phillips was acquired by Winnipeg from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for defenceman Dmitry Kuzmin on January 15.

He also split time in the AHL during the 2024–25 campaign, tallying 16 points (four goals, 12 assists) and 74 penalty minutes in 67 games with the Manitoba Moose and Rockford IceHogs.

Across 14 Calder Cup playoff games, he's recorded one goal and six assists in his career.

In the AHL, Phillips has notched 87 points (26 goals, 61 assists) and 234 penalty minutes across 238 games.

His major junior hockey was played in Sudbury with the Wolves with 131 games played between 2018 and 2020. He put up 12 goals and 28 assists in that span.
