
Provincial police have charged a 40-year-old man from Barrie with impaired driving and drug-related offences after officers responded to a reported multi-vehicle crash shortly after 11 p.m. on Saturday near High Street in Orillia.
Police said the driver of one of the vehicles displayed signs of impairment, and officers entered into an impaired driving investigation.
He was charged with the following:
· Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
· Operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance - Cocaine
· Possession of Schedule 1 substance - Opioid
· Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
· Dangerous Operation
· Possess more than one licence
· Drive motor vehicle, no current validated permit
The accused is scheduled to appear in court on July 15. Their driver's licence was suspended for 90 days, and the vehicle was impounded for seven days.
