A person riding an ATV in New Tecumseth caught the attention of an Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer.

On June 28 at around 9:30 p.m., the officer noticed the ATV was being driven without lights on and the rider was not wearing a helmet.

Police say the officer conducted a traffic stop, and during the interaction with the driver, determined the person's ability to operate the ATV was impaired by alcohol.

A 40-year-old man from Tottenham was charged with impaired driving and failing to wear a proper helmet.

The accused has a court date later this month.
