Commercial vehicle safety is the focus of Operation Safe Driver Week, and the Ontario Provincial Police nabbed several rigs on Highway 400.

A commercial motor vehicle was pulled over by provincial police on Highway 400 in Barrie on Wednesday evening for having an insecure load.

Police noted the truck was travelling with insufficient tie-downs as it was transporting what appeared to be a large amount of interlock. The driver and company were charged.

The OPP stated that the truck was allowed to leave once the necessary load security devices were installed.

In another incident on Highway 400, OPP stopped a truck at Innisfil Beach Road in Innisfil that was allegedly speeding and weaving through lanes.

Multiple charges were laid against the driver and the company, police added.
