OPP seek possible witness to deadly hit-and-run collision in Innisfil

Ontario Provincial Police have released a photo of what they believe to be a vehicle driven by a person who may have witnessed a deadly hit-and-run in Innisfil.

On Sunday, July 13, shortly after 3 a.m., police responded to a report of a woman's body on the shoulder of Highway 89 near the 5th Sideroad just west of Highway 400. The woman was identified as a 35-year-old from Richmond Hill.

According to police, the preliminary investigation indicates the woman was walking along Highway 89 when she was struck by a blue passenger vehicle travelling eastbound shortly after 2 a.m. The vehicle was eventually found, but the driver has not been located.

Police have identified a white SUV that was seen travelling closely behind the suspect vehicle at the time of the collision. Investigators believe the driver may have witnessed the incident and want to speak with that person regarding any information they may have.

Anyone with any information or dash cam footage from the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact the Nottawasaga OPP at 1-888-310-1122. Should you wish to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or ontariocrimestoppers.ca, where you may be eligible to receive a cash reward of up to $2,000.
