A late breakdown by the Barrie Baycats (20-12) almost threw away what looked like a sure win, but the team still managed to beat the Hamilton Cardinals (17-14) 8-6 in 10 innings Friday at Bernie Arbour Memorial Stadium.
It's Barrie's sixth extra-innings win out of eight this season. No IBL team has had more than three in any given season since at least 2010.
Carlos Sano (5-1) got the win a day after his first loss, while Steven Hospital (1-1) earned his first loss of the season.

Barrie's five-spot in the fifth inning was due thanks to hits by Brandon Hernandez, Francisco Hernandez and Tristan Clarke before a fielder's choice off the bat of Noah Hull. All of which drove in runs.
Hamilton starter Enrique Saldaña didn't record an out in the fifth, finishing with five earned runs on six hits. He walked three and struck out one.
The team carried the 5-0 lead into the eighth when Adam Khan allowed an unearned run.
In the next inning, the team seemingly broke down. Braeden Pakkala couldn't find the strike zone, allowing two walks and a hit after facing six batters.
Sano entered, needing one out to complete the save, but a throwing error by Adam Odd kept the inning going. Then, with a chance to end the game, Noah Hull slipped on the infield in an attempt to play a pop-up.
All of a sudden, Hamilton tied it up, and were still threatening.
With runners on the corners and Johnathan Solazzo up, the win was so close for Hamilton.
Yolki Peña then broke from first, and Sano stepped off. When he threw the ball to second, Nicolas Velocci headed home and scored the tying run.
The throw home got away from catcher Tyler Plumpton, and Peña headed to third. But as Plumpton went to retrieve the ball, he ran into Velocci, which prompted Peña to be called out due to interference.
In the tenth, Adam Odd drew a bases-loaded walk from Hospital before Noel McGarry Doyle drove in two with a double.
Hamilton got just one run in the bottom half off a sacrifice fly by Jaden Brown.
After the debaucle that was Thursday's loss to Toronto, this was a much needed win for the Baycats, however difficult.
GARCIA SUSPENDED
Baycats outfielder Willy Garcia was slotted into the original lineup, but needed to be removed just minutes before gametime after the league suspended him for one game.
The suspension stems from Thursday's game against Toronto when he left the dugout during a confrontation with Maple Leafs outfielder Dennis Dei Baning in the 10th inning. He'd already been substituted from the game for Antonino Spencer-Thompson.
VINTAGE CESAR
While he issued four walks and had just five strikeouts, Cesar Rosado was dominant and efficient through seven shutout innings.
Rosado allowed just one hit and got into just three 3-2 counts over the course of his 96-pitch outing.
His mother among other family members were also in attendance, making the trip to Canada earlier in the afternoon from the Dominican Republic.
