Saying “yes” to Encore paid off for Rogelio Oranza of Barrie. He matched the last six of seven Encore numbers in exact order in the June 14, 2025 Lotto 6/49 draw to win $100,000.
Rogelio, who works in manufacturing, has been a loyal lottery player with OLG for the past 11 years. He typically plays three times a week, with his go-to games being Lotto 6/49 and Lotto Max.
Rogelio uses OLG’s Quick Pick feature to make his selections and likes to add Encore to his tickets.
Now, the married father of three is thrilled to share the story of his first big win.
“I checked my ticket at the gas station after filling up and couldn’t believe what I was seeing on the screen,” said Rogelio, while visiting the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect his windfall. “I asked the clerk to double-check my ticket to make sure it was real. I was in complete shock and couldn’t stop smiling.”
The first phone call Rogelio made was to his wife.
“I instantly called her to share the news,” he said. “Of course, she couldn’t believe what I was telling her!”
With his winnings, Rogelio plans to make a down payment on a home.
“This is such a big moment for me and my family. I’ve been playing the lottery ever since I came to Canada, but I never expected to win a prize like this,” he said, smiling. “Winning is just a great feeling. I hope to be back here at the OLG Prize Centre someday!”
The winning ticket was purchased at Zel on Cundles Road West in Barrie.
