
The Terry Fox Run slogan for 2025 is 'Finish It,' as the 45th annual event takes place Sunday in more than 650 communities, including Barrie.
The Barrie run is at Centennial Park, from 9 a.m. until 12 noon, with registration at 8 a.m.
The goal is to raise funds for cancer research. The Barrie target is https://run.terryfox.ca/92776 is $100,000.
According to the Terry Fox Foundation (TFF), before his death on June 28, 1981, Terry had achieved his goal of $1 from every Canadian. The Terry Fox Run has raised more than $850 million since 1980.
Fox began his run on April 12, 1980 in St. John's, Newfoundland, and it ended 10 months later on June 28, 1981, just outside Thunder Bay, when he announced that his cancer had returned.
The TFF says Fox averaged 42 kilometres a day on his journey for 143 days and stopped his run across Canada at the halfway point - 5,373 kilometres.
