Suspects arrested after stolen vehicle, break-and-enter in New Tecumseth

A man and woman face numerous charges in relation to a stolen vehicle and break-and-enter investigation in New Tecumseth.

On Monday, around 9:30 a.m., Nottawasaga OPP say a resident on Metcalf Crescent in Tottenham reported their vehicle, an older model sedan, stolen from their driveway.

Police say shortly after, the occupants of the stolen vehicle were involved in a break-and-enter at a local humane society where a quantity of cash and items were stolen.

Officers say they then observed the suspect vehicle in Alliston on Wednesday, and subsequently arrested two suspects and recovered evidence of the break and enter.

A 35-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with:

  • Theft under $5000 - two counts
  • Break and enter
  • Disguise with intent
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 - two counts
  • Fail to comply with release order

While a 31-year-old New Tecumseth woman faces the following:

  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000

Both were held pending bail hearings.
