Over 8,000 cannabis plants seized at property in Bradford West Gwillimbury

South Simcoe Police executed a search warrant at a massive cannabis grow-op in Bradford as part of an illegal cultivation investigation.

Tuesday, the service's crime unit was notified by inspectors from Health Canada’s Cannabis, Tobacco and Controlled Substances Directorate about a suspected large-scale cannabis grow-operation a property in Bradford West Gwillimbury.

Following the notification, police executed a search warrant Wednesday at the identified property. There, officers seized more than 8,000 cannabis plants as well as a "significant quantity" of dried cannabis and packaging materials.

South Simcoe Police say the investigation is ongoing.
