A Barrie man has been charged with child pornography offences after city police received a report from the National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) concerning the distribution of child pornography on the KIK social media website.
On Monday, September 8, Barrie police and its Internet Child Exploitation (ICE) Unit arrested a 55-year-old, who was charged with accessing and possessing child pornography.
Upon completion of several production orders, police say a search warrant was executed at a residence in northwest Barrie.
As a result of this investigation, several computer devices were seized, and forensics revealed the images as suggested in the KIK report to NCMEC.
The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing and has since been released, police added.
