
Five drivers were caught impaired behind the wheel in the first half of September by Bracebridge OPP, all leading to charges and arrests.
"Impaired driving continues to be a significant factor affecting the safety of Muskoka roads," said the detachment in a news release.
Four of the five incidents occurred on consecutive days. Two of the five incidents occurred outside Bracebridge in nearby Gravenhurst.

On September 5, at 11:20 p.m., a patrolling officer noticed concerning driving from a vehicle on Manitoba Street. After a traffic stop on Hiram Street, the driver, a 44-year-old man from Newmarket, was arrested and charged. He will appear in court in Bracebridge in early October.

The next day, at 7 p.m., a concerning vehicle caught the attention of officers on Muskoka Road. It was driving in a way that prompted a traffic stop on Morrison Street, where a 50-year-old man from Bracebridge was arrested and charged. He will appear in a Bracebridge court at the end of September.

One day later, at 7:30 p.m., officers received reports of a vehicle that struck a guard rail on Golden Beach Road, from where the occupants fled on foot. Officers found them, and charged a 26-year-old man from Muskoka Lakes with impaired operation and failure to remain at the scene. He will appear in court in late October in Bracebridge.

The following day, at 9:50 p.m., a R.I.D.E. program conducted by officers on Bay Street in Gravenhurst. After an interaction in which it was determined the driver was impaired, a 33-year-old man from Gravenhurst was charged with impaired operation and failure to comply with probation. He will appear in a Bracebridge court in early October.

On September 13, 2025, at 7:30 p.m., Officers were contacted by a concerned citizen regarding a vehicle parked near his laneway on Highway 11 South in Gravenhurst. Attending officers found the vehicle and the driver nearby, subsequently arresting and charging 42-year-old man from Gravenhurst. He will appear in court in late October in Bracebridge.
