The public is invited to a behind-the-scenes tour of the Barrie Food Bank on Saturday, September 20, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Visitors can tour the centre's 10,000-square-foot facility, learn about the food bank programs, take the journey of food from donation to distribution, explore the self-shop 'client choice' warehouse, and discover how food recovery works.
"We're opening our doors so people can really see the impact of their support," said Karen Shuh, BFB executive director, in a news release. "This isn't just a food bank-it's a hub for community, dignity, and nutritious food. Whether you're a long-time supporter or just curious, we'd love to show you around."
Throughout the tour, guests will meet staff and volunteers, and learn more about the centre's innovative food programs like The Corner Store, School Fuel and Little Pantries.
There is no RSVP required to take a tour.
The Barrie Food is located at 42 Anne Street South.
