Bracebridge OPP rule death in Torrance homicide after postmortem

The death of a man, whose body was found Monday in Torrance is being treated as a homicide, as announced by Bracebridge OPP Saturday.

Just after 12 p.m. Monday, officers responded to the report of a deceased person discovered in a remote area near Hardy Lake Road. The body was identified as 25-year-old Tyler Penasse of West Nipissing.

The body was transported to Toronto Wednesday, where a a postmortem was conducted at the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service. After it was completed, it was decided the death would be treated as a homicide.

Investigators are urging anyone in the areas of Hardy Lake Road, Torrance, Bala, Wahta and Gravenhurst between Sunday and Monday that may have dashcam footage or other relevant information to contact police.

The investigation is continuing with the Bracebridge OPP Crime Unit directed by the Criminal Investigation Branch, and in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the OFPS. Assistance is being provided by OPP Forensic Identification Services.
