Orillia OPP were called about a disturbance on Quetton Street in Washago on Sunday, where witnesses reported two men were asking people for lighters. When they didn't get any, a shouting match ensued with people in the area.
By the time officers arrived, both individuals had fled the scene. Police were advised to head to Muskoka Street, near the CN railyard, where they found both men in a heated verbal exchange. One of the males, according to police, ripped off his shirt and continued to swear at pedestrians and motorists driving by.
The 29-year-old was arrested for causing a disturbance. Police say he also showed signs of intoxication, such as the smell of alcohol and slurred speech. It was learned that the suspect was already under a probation order and a conditional sentence at the time of the incident.
He was held for a bail hearing.
