Barrie police are praising an individual who contacted them about a break-in to a home on Friday afternoon and provided details that led to the arrest of a suspect.
Around 1 p.m., police responded to a report of a break-and-enter on Codrington Street. The caller reported the person responsible had left the home and was fleeing the area on foot. The witness, who initially heard the sound of breaking glass, told police that the male suspect ran to the rear of the house and into a nearby ravine, and was able to provide a detailed description of the individual to dispatchers.
After a brief foot chase, police say a 67-year-old was arrested and taken into custody on Blake Street.
He has been charged with break and enter, possession of break-in instruments, and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.
The accused has a court date next month.
