
A motorcyclist was killed in a collision with a pickup truck on Highway 11 in Oro-Medonte.
Around 10:30 p.m. on Monday, emergency services received multiple 911 calls reporting a person lying on the road and a motorcycle in the southbound lanes north of Line 15.
When first responders arrived at the scene, the motorcyclist was deceased.
He has been identified as a 27-year-old man from Toronto.
"Witnesses at the scene directed officers to the suspected driver of the pickup truck, who remained at the location. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was subsequently arrested," police said in a news release.
Witnesses reported that the drivers of the motorcycle and pickup were engaged in a road rage-type altercation before the collision.
A 37-year-old Bracebridge man has been charged with the following:
- impaired operation causing death
- dangerous operation causing death
- obstruct peace officer
- failure or refusal to comply with demand causing death
- operate a motor vehicle without insurance
- driving while under suspension
- driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit
