Eagle-eyed staff at a grocery store on Edward Street in Gravenhurst alerted Bracebridge OPP on Tuesday afternoon to a theft in progress and reported the person had stolen from the supermarket previously.
Police attended and their investigation revealed the same suspect was allegedly responsible for a sizeable theft from another grocery store in Gravenhurst earlier that day.
The same suspect, say provincial police, is alleged to have stolen thousands of dollars of product from Gravenhurst grocery stores on September 8 and 17.
A 59-year-old Scarborough man was charged with four counts of theft under $5,000 and six counts of failing to comply with probation.
He was held in custody and has a bail hearing on Thursday.
