Drugs seized, two arrested after warrant executed in Wasaga Beach

An executed search warrant in Wasaga Beach on Thursday resulted in the arrest of two local residents and the seizure of drugs and related paraphernalia.

Members of the Huronia West OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) along with members of the Collingwood, Southern Georgian Bay, and Orillia detachment's CSCUs executed the warrant.

As a result, a quantity of cocaine, fentanyl, methylphenidate, oxycodone, Suboxone, and psilocybin were seized from the Wasaga Beach residence.

Additionally, rounds of firearm ammunition, a quantity of Canadian currency, and other items consistent with drug trafficking were seized according to OPP.

Two residents, a 32-year-old and 63-year-old each from Wasaga Beach, were arrested and charged with four counts of possession of a Schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking, one count for possessing a Schedule III substance for trafficking, and possessing proceeds of crime over $5,000.

The 63-year-old was also charged with failing to comply with a probation order and possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.

Both are being held for a bail hearing to take place in Barrie on Thursday.
