Man who attempted to flee from police in Wasaga Beach arrested, numerous charges laid
A 28-year-old Burlington man is facing numerous charges after police say a driver fled during an attempted traffic stop in Wasaga Beach. (OPP - X)

A 28-year-old suspended driver from Burlington attempted to flee from the law after a Huronia West OPP officer tried to conduct a traffic stop around ten Tuesday morning in Wasaga Beach.

Police say a sedan was spotted speeding on Sunnidale Road South.

Before the officer could approach the vehicle, the driver fled.

Shortly after, police say the sedan was intercepted by officers while travelling eastbound on Highway 26 in Clearview Township.

The driver was taken into custody without incident.

The suspect has been charged with:

• Flight from peace officer

• Dangerous operation

• Fail to comply with release order

• Fail to comply with probation order

• Possession of forged document with intent

• Driving while under suspension

• Speeding

• Obstruct plate

• Use plate not authorized for vehicle

The accused was held in custody for a bail hearing on Wednesday.
