A man is facing charges after Barrie police arrested a person inside City Hall following a report from an individual who said someone had entered the building.
When officers arrived at 70 Collier Street around 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday, they found a door with the glass kicked out.
Officers set up a containment in the building and requested the assistance of the canine unit.
Canine and uniform officers located the suspect in a stairwell. After a brief interaction in the basement, a 37-year-old man was taken into custody.
He has been charged with break and enter, mischief under $5,000, and assault with intent to resist arrest.
The accused has a bail hearing at a future date.
Police said in a news release that they want to acknowledge and thank the person who called to report the incident and remain nearby until police arrived.
