A Barrie man lost his driving privileges after he was pulled over during a traffic stop around 1 a.m. Wednesday morning, southbound on Bayfield Street near Cundles Road.
Police say the motorist was stopped for not having validated licence plates and for a suspected insurance violation.
From the investigation that followed, police say the officer confirmed the vehicle was being operated without insurance and the driver had not registered the vehicle in his name after recently purchasing it. The officer also confirmed that the licence plates were not registered to the vehicle.
As a result, the licence plates were removed and the car was towed, said police.
The 21-year-old motorist was charged with operating a motor vehicle without insurance and using a plate not authorized for the vehicle.
He has a court date in January.
