Nottawasaga OPP detachment came through big time for a 10-year-old boy who was injured last month while riding his bicycle home from school.
On October 2, Kaleb was struck by a vehicle.
"Thanks to his helmet and the swift, professional response of emergency services, Kaleb's injuries, though significant, did not result in any lasting effects," police said in a news release on Monday.
During a follow-up visit with Kaleb and his family, officers learned he is a passionate fan of the Winnipeg Jets.
Members of D Platoon teamed up, and through a personal connection to the Jets, they secured a signed jersey from Kaleb's favourite players.
On Saturday, Kaleb was presented with the jersey during a visit to the Nottawasaga Detachment in Alliston, where he checked a police cruiser and paid a visit to the cell block.
"His face lit up with joy and disbelief," police said, in describing the moment the Jets jersey was presented to Kaleb.
"Kaleb and his family expressed heartfelt gratitude to the officers for their compassion, integrity, and continued support throughout his recovery. The experience was a powerful reminder of the impact that small acts of kindness can have on a young life."
