The vehicle was stopped, and police say the 59-year-old female driver from Wasaga Beach refused to identify herself.

As a result, she was arrested and charged with the following offences:

• Operate a motor vehicle without insurance

• Deface vehicle identification number

• Confuse identity of plate

• Fail to surrender permit for the motor vehicle

• Fail to display two plates

• Fail to surrender permit for motor vehicle

• Fail to surrender driver’s licence

The SUV was impounded under the Highway Traffic Act, and the woman was released with a court date.

"Displaying fraudulent licence plates and refusing to identify yourself during a traffic stop are serious offences that compromise public safety and accountability. Always ensure your vehicle is properly registered, insured, and identifiable," police said in a social media post.
