What started as an altercation at a home on Tiffin Street in Barrie early Friday evening turned into a large police presence and search in Allandale.
Between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., multiple police cruisers arrived to a residence at which a domestic altercation was taking place.
Police say the victim was taken to hospital with injuries after the altercation which involved an individual with an edged weapon.
Officers on-scene cordoned off a perimeter around the home, an area of the business plaza across the street, and part of Tiffin Street from Essa Road to Innisfil Street.
The K9 unit was subsequently deployed, and along with other uniformed officers, were seen scouring the area. Their search appeared to include the home, the business plaza, and went as far as the Allandale Waterfront GO station and further south on Cumberland Street.

No word yet on any arrests, charges, or the reasoning behind the scale of the search. However, police did confirm the incident appears to be isolated.
More information is expected in the coming days.
