While the idea of "home, sweet home," is a reality for many, some at-risk youth in the Barrie area don't have that luxury.
For the holidays, aiming to brighten the season for those in that tough situation, Youth Haven is launching its Boxes of Hope campaign.
The boxes provide essentials and gifts to young people who rely on Youth Haven's services. They're filled with things like toiletries, bus tokens, socks, hats, gloves, hygiene products, and gift cards.

Youth Haven Executive Director Lucy Gowers says the campaign is a lifeline for youth who often feel forgotten during the holiday season.
“Boxes of Hope is more than a gift to the kids in our care. It’s a reminder to our youth that their community sees them, values them, and wants them to succeed,” Gowers said in a news release. “Many of the young people we serve are navigating trauma, family breakdowns, mental health challenges, and the harsh realities of poverty. We are grateful that each holiday season, our community decides to be the difference in the lives of our young people.”
The boxes are available for $50 during the duration of the campaign.
The 2025 Boxes of Hope campaign runs from Monday to December 19.
