Barrie police say a man has been charged after a stabbing at a residential rental unit on Dunlop Street East, near Sampson Street.
Just before three on Tuesday afternoon, officers responded to the address where they found a 29-year-old man with multiple stab wounds. He was treated by County of Simcoe paramedics and transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect was gone by the time police arrived, and a canine track was unable to pick up a trail.
Detectives kept digging and figured out who they were looking for.
Around 7:30 p.m., police say they went to a home in northeast Barrie and arrested a 30-year-old man without incident.
He has been charged with possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, assault with a weapon, and aggravated assault.
The suspect has bail hearing scheduled.
"This incident was isolated in nature, and at no time was there any threat to public safety," police stated in a news release.
