A police response to a disturbance at a residence in Penetanguishene has resulted in multiple charges against a 46-year-old man.

Around 9:30 on Saturday night, when police arrived at the home on Gignac Drive, two individuals involved in the disturbance took their fight onto the street. One male fled on foot, and police say officers made contact with the other person.

"During the interaction, officers had grounds to believe that person was in possession of weapons, " police said in a news release.

After initially resisting arrest, police say the suspect was taken into custody.

"A subsequent search revealed a Glock-style handgun and a homemade electrical weapon concealed in their clothing," police said. "Further examination confirmed the firearm was a pellet gun, despite its resemblance to a real handgun."
