Senior man arrested in connection to New Tecumseth drug trafficking operation

An ongoing OPP investigation involving the Nottawasaga detachment's Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) and assistance from the Dufferin and Caledon attachments has yielded seizures and an arrest.

Earlier this fall, the Nottawasaga CSCU received information that a man was trafficking drugs in New Tecumseth. Eventually, officers obtained a search warrant after observing suspicious acitivity.

On Wednesday, just before 12:30 p.m., officers attended the residence on County Road 50 in Adjala-Tosorontio and executed the warrant. Through their search, police seized multiple prescription medications including oxycodone, lorazepam, tramadol and trazodone; 14,000 contraband cigarettes; drug trafficking paraphernalia, and $1,960 in cash.

As a result, police arrested a 66-year-old man from Adjala-Tosorontio and charged with possession for the purpose of and trafficking of a schedule I drug as well as trafficking contraband tobacco.

He is scheduled to appear in court on February 19.

The OPP is still investigating and appealing to the public for further information.
