A Bradford man was handed a five-year prison term on Tuesday for an impaired driving crash that claimed the life of another Bradford man.

South Simcoe Police say 29-year-old Johnathon Harrington pleaded guilty in court to charges of impaired driving causing death and failing to stop after an accident.

On July 16, 2022, shortly after midnight, police say a 32-year-old Bradford man riding a motorcycle was struck and killed after being hit from behind by a vehicle on Holland Street in Bradford.

"Harrington was sentenced to five years in jail minus pre-sentence custody which means he will serve approximately three years and seven months," police said in a news release on Thursday.

The judge also imposed a seven-year driving prohibition.
