An Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officer patrolling Highway 400 in Georgian Bay Township on Monday received an alert from the cruiser's Automatic Licence Plate Reader about a licence plate on a vehicle reported stolen in the Toronto area.
The officer stopped the vehicle and identified the driver.
In addition to the stolen vehicle, police say the motorist was prohibited from driving and was bound by a probation order.
The vehicle was towed to be returned to its owner, and the driver, a 28-year-old Newmarket woman, was charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, two counts of operation of a vehicle while prohibited, and three counts of failing to comply with a probation order.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
