from The Township of Essa...
The Township of Essa is declaring an Extreme Weather Event in response to the current significant snowstorm impacting our community. This declaration is being issued under the Township’s authority as provided through the Municipal Act, 2001, including sections related to the health, safety, and well-being of residents (s. 8, s. 9, and s. 11) and the municipality’s responsibility for the maintenance and management of its highways (s. 44).
This declaration enables the Township to prioritize essential winter maintenance operations, temporarily adjust service levels where required, and ensure that resources can be deployed efficiently to address rapidly changing weather and road conditions.
Township Public Works staff are actively working around the clock to keep roads open and safe for travel. Crews continue to focus on primary routes, emergency access, and high-priority areas. Residents may experience delays in snow removal on secondary roads due to the severity of conditions.
During this Extreme Weather Event, residents are encouraged to:
- Limit non-essential travel.
- Use caution when driving and give plow operators ample space to work safely.
- Expect temporary snow windrows due to ongoing plowing operations.
- The Township will continue to monitor weather conditions and provide updates as required. Residents are encouraged to follow the Township’s website and official social media channels for the latest information.
We thank all residents for their patience and cooperation.
For updates, please keep checking Township of Essa website or follow our social media channels.
