
New year, new you?
Those might be the plans for many heading into 2026, and the City of Barrie is lending a helping hand for those looking to get started on or restart their fitness journey.
Barrie residents (ages 18 and over) have the opportunity to try some of the City's fitness centres for free during specified time slots.
Those periods include:
- January 2, 9 a.m.-12 p.m. (Allandale Recreation Centre)
- January 2, 5 p.m.- 9 p.m. (Peggy Hill Team Community Centre)
- January 3, 8:30 a.m.-12 p.m. (East Bayfield Community Centre)
“Discover everything the City has to offer for your health and wellness,” said City of Barrie director of recreation and culture services Kevin Datema said in a news release. “Join us for a free visit and experience our fitness classes, explore top-notch facilities, and connect with our expert team. Don’t miss this chance to kick-start your fitness journey for a fun, healthy and happy 2026.”
Additionally, any new member who purchases a recPASS membership during a free session will receive a City of Barrie gym bag, while supplies last.
