A 31-year-old man from North York has been charged after provincial police responded around 10 p.m. on Dec. 26 to a report of a vehicle that was lodged in a snowbank on Gravenhurst Parkway near Beaver Creek Drive in Gravenhurst, in the area of the Beaver Creek Institution.

When officers arrived, the driver was not with the vehicle, though they allegedly found a quantity of illegal drugs. Soon after, the driver was located and taken into custody.

He was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of cannabis for the purpose of selling, and possession of contraband before the visitor point in a penitentiary.

The accused has a court date next month.
