Staff at a private retirement residence in Stayner evacuated 25 residents after a fire broke out in the building shortly after 9 a.m. on Wednesday.
Clearview Township Deputy Fire Chief Kevin Spears told Barrie 360 that the blaze caused significant damage.
The entire Clearview Fire Department responded to the blaze. Spears said mutual aid was received from Collingwood in fighting the fire, and staffing requirements were covered for the township by Springwater crews.

According to Clearview Mayor Doug Measures, who spoke with Barrie 360, four residents were taken to the hospital to be assessed for what he called "trip and fall" injuries during the evacuation.
The County of Simcoe is assisting with lodging for the displaced residents.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
