A dozen cases of COVID-19 in Simcoe and Muskoka, none in Barrie, as provincial tally rose by 335

First time in 19 days there were no cases listed in Barrie

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit (SMDHU) reported cases of COVID-19 locally today, as the provincial tally dipped below 400.

Wednesday’s update from the SMDHU saw four cases in Huntsville, three in Bracebridge, two in Gravenhurst and in Innisfil, and one in Muskoka Lakes. There were no new cases in Barrie in Wednesday’s update, the first time the city saw no new cases since September 4.

Meanwhile, there were 335 cases reported province-wide on Wednesday, Toronto, Peel Region, and Ottawa remained the biggest contributors to the single-day rise in cases.

Health Minister Christine Elliott reported on Wednesday 69 percent of the day’s cases were among people under the age of 40 and the local trend appears to be following suit; the SMDHU indicates the median age of all cases since the beginning of July is 30 years old. Half of all active cases in Simcoe and Muskoka are among those aged 18 to 39.
